The Fremont Troll is a colossal public sculpture located under the north end of the George Washington Memorial Bridge (also known as the Aurora Bridge).
He was born in 1990 from the creative minds of Steve Badanes, Will Martin, Donna Walter, and Ross Whitehead. They won a competition to revitalize the trash-strewn underpass, and in doing so, they created a global icon.
Standing 5.5 meters tall and clutching a real Volkswagen Beetle, the Troll is a testament to the quirky, artistic spirit of the Fremont neighborhood—the self-proclaimed 'Center of the Universe.'
